HIGH-POWER LASER THERAPY IN CARLINGFORD

High-power laser used as part of an individual plan

Understand how photobiomodulation is delivered, what a session involves and when it may be considered at our Carlingford clinic.

UNDERSTAND THE SERVICE

What is high-power laser therapy?

High-power laser therapy uses specific wavelengths of light—often described as photobiomodulation—to deliver energy to targeted tissue. At Back Space Chiropractic, the Chattanooga HPL 15W system may be used as an adjunct to care following assessment. It does not replace a diagnosis, rehabilitation or appropriate medical referral.

The first step is determining whether this service is appropriate for you. Recommendations are explained before care begins, and you can ask questions or decline any technique.

WHAT IT MAY INVOLVE

A considered process—not a one-size-fits-all treatment

01

Clinical screening

Your condition, health history, medications and treatment area are reviewed for suitability and precautions.

02

Protective eyewear

Patient and practitioner wear wavelength-specific eye protection throughout treatment.

03

Targeted application

The applicator is moved over the selected area using settings chosen for the presentation and tissue depth.

04

Integrate the plan

Laser may be combined with exercise, manual care, load management or other clinically appropriate strategies.

WHEN IT MAY BE CONSIDERED

Care matched to your presentation

People may ask about this service for a range of concerns. These examples do not confirm that the service is suitable or identify a diagnosis.

✓ Selected muscle or tendon presentations
✓ Joint or soft-tissue discomfort
✓ Support during rehabilitation
✓ Some acute or persistent pain presentations
✓ Recovery where an adjunct may be appropriate
✓ Cases screened as suitable by the practitioner

What to expect afterwards

Treatment is generally delivered for a short period and should not feel sharply painful. Sensation can vary from little or no feeling to gentle warmth. Response differs between people, and laser is not appropriate for every condition or treatment area.

Safety comes first. If your symptoms suggest urgent medical attention, imaging or another professional is more appropriate, we will explain the next step and refer where needed.
YOUR FIRST APPOINTMENT

Start with clarity

Your first visit includes time to understand what has changed, examine the relevant area and discuss practical options. In most suitable presentations, care can begin during the initial consultation. If more information is needed, we prioritise the appropriate referral or investigation.

Is it safe for everyone?
No. Screening is required, and precautions or contraindications may apply depending on the treatment area, health history and other factors.
Can laser replace exercise or rehabilitation?
